LasVegas.net Named World's Worst Web Host

We've all heard the horror stories of what can happen when your site is hosted at the wrong company. Some of us have been unfortunate enough to have used one of these companies in the past, or maybe you're still with one now. Even if not, anyone who's ever spent an hour on the phone to reach a clueless customer service rep can appreciate this situation. We've scoured the virtual universe and have uncovered the single worst web host in the world.

You would expect such horrible service to be located in Dominica, or India, or some third world sesspool that just wants to take the money and run. To our surprise, the world's worst web host is actually located right here in the good ol' U.S of A, in sin city itself, Las Vegas, Nevada. In fact, the web host, which also provides local internet access, is actually using the name LasVegas.net.

Owned by Las Vegas resident Marty Mizrahi, LasVegas.net provides local dsl service to residents of the city, and hosting services to many local area businesses. The company is also heavily involved in the internet porn industry, as our research has uncovered, providing design and modeling services for web sites such as girlfriendfilms.com. We wonder what other clients, such as Las Vegas Fox 5, would think if they were aware that their site was being hosted on porn servers.

It didn't take much digging to find out just how disreputable this porn host is. A quick look at their profile on Alexa Web Rankings reveals the following comment:

I have spent over 14 hours over five days waiting for them to finish an installation with a guarrentee that it will be working after the first 13 hours.

Day 1 seven hours, (The service worked at a under 350kBaud for a day then died.) Day 2 six hours, Day 3 "no show" called at time of appointment to cancel, Day 4 "new guy" did new roof install, Day 5 one hour wait "new guy" was a "no show, no call". When I unplugged the equipment the crimp connection to the modem FELL-APART!!! You can never get someone on the phone and a REALLY irritating "no satisfaction" remix plays until the voicemail picks up.

My advice: Look at the website closely and don't trust a company that has to diversify so much to make money. Companies should be REALLY good at what they do before they diversify.

After running a classified ad in the Las Vegas Review Journal, we were contacted by a number of other dissatisfied clients of LasVegas.net. One of these, Global Gaming News, revealed that when they first transferred their sites to LasVegas.net, it took them more than two months to complete the job, and when it was time to transfer away, it took weeks to do the job.

"I had already paid for a year in advance", states GGN President, Jerry Garner, "There wasn't much I could do"

Mr Garner had no idea about the porn servers until we notified him, but another former client was aware. Dennis Tobler, owner of Gaming Broadcast had no problems with that aspect of the business. In fact, he professes to be an amateur pornographer as a hobby. However, he did have a problem with the services provided compared to what competitors provide at a lower cost. Like Garner, Mr Tobler had also paid for a year in advance.

"He already had my money, and getting money back from a jew is like getting weed back from a hippy", Tobler stated in a telephone interview.

Mr Mazrahi could not be reached for comment, although we did enjoy that remix of "No Satisfaction" while waiting.

Well at least the author of this is anti-semitic. I also tried to find the review on alexa and could not find that either. Also, upon doing a quick WHOIS on those two domain names I found that the two people that own them at least have the same last name (garner) and it seems unlikely that there was a newspaper ad taken out that produced two people with similar businesses also with the same last name.

I own 702Motoring and since I have used LasVegas.net (for over 5 years) The reliability is far superior to the "other 2" options...cox cable and the telco. I used to sit on the phone and wait for cox for hours, but I have better things to do than write hate mail! Just like any service, anywhere, there will always be someone unhappy. Its unfortunate that this one takes it so personal. Maybe if he ran a business in electronics maybe he would learn that everything is not simple. Las Vegas.net does things that other people CANT do. Wireless where cox and telco say...planned for future upgrade. So try them for yourself! before you take one "angry" persons word for it.
For a personal reference call me!
